Since then we've been involved with the ground floor of the rollout and marketing for this Pepper Joe and PuckerButt exclusive Pepper. I've visited the Farms, Greenhouses and Testing Lab and am really impressed with his whole operation. Ed dedicated 4 years of testing at the Winthrop University in SC to validate the scorching heat level of this amazing pepper. The Pepper

One look at the Carolina Reapers Pod shape and you just know you have to have it. Because of the heat? No, because of the taste and flavor. Do we need a new Worlds Hottest? I think so. We have the Superbowl, World Series, Grammy and Oscar awards for new champs every year. The awesome thing is each one has a unique taste, nutritional profile, pod shape and plant growth. Is this an absolutely gorgeous pod or what?
Typically the pod glows in a mustard yellow. As with all Super-Hots you can see some pod variation (especially recent crosses). Many of ours grew with the 'double tail' like you see in the picture. Others had some really cool shapes....that's part of the fun of growing SuperHots. They're like a "Box of Chocolates"...you never know what you're gonna get...RUN Forest, Run LOL. The Naga Viper has an interesting background. It was created in Cumbria, a small county in England and is a 3 way cross of the Naga Morich, Bhut Jolokia and Trinidad scorpion. Aka Bhut-lah is actually a cross between the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) and the Douglah. That lineage creates this fabulous pepper which can actually have pods HOTTER than the Ghost Pepper. Although the Douglah has never officially been tested for Scoville Heat units, most estimates are in the 1.2 to 1.3 Million range. This is a fun Chile to grow and have in your collection. Like most brown peppers, it's taste is sweeter than the Red Daddy pepper.

This is a wicked new pepper coming into the pepper world! It is a creation from a Trinidad Scorpion Moruga. It has an almost grapefruit-type flavor paired with searing heat that will burn the mouths of all who dare! The Moruga Satan Strain Reds make great hot sauce and salsa, as well as an ingredient for seasonings and rubs. This variety grows great in most climates seasonally. It grows from seed to harvest in about 160 days. It will mature from Green to Red. We suggest using a ferilizer with an NPK of around 12-8-10.

NEW! This is a BRAND NEW variety created by Butch Taylor himself! The two parent plants are a Trinidad Scorpion Butch T and a Carolina Reaper. One being a previous world record holder, and the other being the current world record holder! This pepper has an appearance similar to a Moruga Scorpion, but with a much thinner outer wall. The final mature color of the pepper is almost a dark orange/red color. The flavor is very floral and citrus up front, with a burn like nothing we have ever tasted before! It grows great in warm climates, as well as cooler climates seasonally. It matures from Green to Orange/Red. They grow from seed to harvest in about 165 days. On our heat scale we give them an 11 out of 10, but we haven't had them "officially" tested yet.

NEW! This is another brand new creation from Butch Taylor! It was created from the previous world record holder, the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T. It has a very strong heat burst, along with some hints of citrus flavors (like mostly all of the Trinidad varieties). It grows great in warm climates, but may struggle in cooler climates if not grown seasonally. They grow from seed to harvest in about 170 days. They will mature from Green to Red. On our heat scale we give them a 9 out of 10. We suggest using a fertilizer with an NPK of around 12-8-10.

Many devout ChileHeads think the Douglah could be the next Worlds HOTTEST Pepper with selective breed-ing techniques. We'll see... meanwhile it's been tested at NMU at 1,170,000 Scoville Heat Units. It's a very rare pepper outside of a few Chilehead hobbyists. The Doughlah is a favorite of collectors.

Named because some of the pods resemble a 'brain'. A growing amount of devout Chileheads and Hot Pepper enthusiasts say this could be the next Champ for the Hottest Pepper. It has not been tested yet. This hefty Chile has volcanic heat and much more placental tissue than other peppers. It may be the coolest Hot Pepper pod you've ever grown. There has been some discussion about it's similarity to the Moruga, my opinion is that they have distinctly different features like pod shape, plant shape and taste differences. Grow them both and see for yourself.

The Primo was developed by Troy Primeaux (AKA Primo) down in the Cajun country of New Orleans. The folks down there know good food and they know hot and spicy. I can't say enough about this pepper. If you like it hot, this one's for you. The plant, if grown with proper care, can reach five feet in height. Good name for this sweet tasting but pungent Jalapeno....because it has plenty of "Attitude".

The charleston was selected our of hundreds of strains. The plants were kept in isolation for pure seed. "Home Gardeners will like this variety because it doesn't take up as much space as other Cayenne varieties" says Phil Dukes. "It only grows about 15" high and produces about two pounds of fresh peppers per plant. The rainbow colors start out yellow green, then golden yellow, bright orange than to deep red when it ripens. TWO GREAT PEPPER MEN MEET...
Phil is a good friend to Pepper Joe and gave us a tour of the 300 acres at the U.S. Vegetable Lab in Charleston, South Carolina to see this incredible variety growing in the fields. We even dodged a few alligators with Phil and had a really neat time. It was really interesting to visit the seed bank and observe the whole operation.
